Do you work with children in the SCA? You may want to consider becoming a Chancellor Minor or Youth Officer at Large.
What Is A Chancellor Minor?
A Chancellor Minor is the local go-to person for youth activities and their coordination for your local group. This person may facilitate resources, organize classes, or generally be a point of contact for youths and parents. Being a Chancellor Minor is a more formalized role in the form of being an actual officer.
What Is A Youth Officer At Large?
Youth Officers At Large perform all the same functions of a Chancellor Minor but do not hold office. These people are basically “a legal adult” in the room and can help keep youth activities compliant. If you are a parent working with kids or at Family Point regularly, you may want to consider becoming a Youth Officer At Large. You never know when someone with a background check is needed!
Requirements for being a Chancellor Minor
- Be at least 21 years of age
- Be a paid member of the SCA, and maintain SCA membership for the duration of your time in this position.
- Pass a background check with the SCA.
Background Check Process
Step 1: Interest
If you are interested in becoming a Chancellor Minor or Youth Officer At Large, contact the East Kingdom Chancellor Minor at chancellor-minor@eastkingdom.org with your interest and fill out the form at the bottom of this page. The Chancellor Minor may ask you a few questions about your current participation in the SCA just to make sure we have a passing reference.
Step 2: Paperwork
The East Kingdom Youth Clerk or their deputy will reach out to you with the paperwork. Fill it out and send it as indicated to get things going!
Step 3: Wait
It can take up to two months for the background checks to be fully cleared with the SCA. If you need it earlier, let us know and we’ll see what we can do!
Step 4: Congratulations!
You have a background check! You can now serve as a Chancellor Minor and/or help out at Youth Point and keep activities in line with our policies, keeping kids adequately and safely supervised.
In order to begin the warranting process, you must fill out the Youth Officer Info Sheet located at the bottom of this page.
